Crime Wave plot

"Before your shocked eyes -- the city blasted SIN-SIDE OUT!"

Three escapees from San Quentin (Penny, Hastings and Morgan) kill a cop during a robbery at a gas station. An injured Morgan flees through the dark streets to an obvious refuge: with former cellmate Steve Lavey. Steve has been paroled and now has a new life and a devoted wife who cannot afford to be associated with his former escaped cellmates. But Homicide Inspector Sims, with the help of Steve, plans to capture Penny and Hastings, who blackmail Steve again with his help in a bank robbery. Is there no way out for Steve?

Good film about a couple of escaped prisoners who seek help from an old cellmate of theirs. A film noir that gets more and more exciting towards the end. A fairly straightforward story, but with enough progress (of course that is partly due to the short playing time). The fact that the film was filmed in just 13 days is certainly not an indication.

Crime-noir filmed in thirteen days with a young Bronson in a supporting role told in great speed. Sterling Hayden chews it up (literally) and puts down a pleasant stereotypical detective. That speed also ensures that you are never really bored anywhere. Plotje is somewhat interchangeable but serves.

Originally intended as a vehicle for Humphrey Bogart with considerably more budget. But DeToth mainly wanted to shoot on location. the latter works very well: many shadowy contrasts and nicely filmed grimey. Nice.

Another fine crime story in which an ex con is visited by his ex cell mates who want to involve him in a bank robbery.
Since he wants to stay on the straight and narrow, he doesn't feel like it at all, but his mates don't accept rejection and hold his girlfriend hostage to force him to cooperate

I wouldn't call this a noir, but it is a nice crime story with a good supporting role by Bronson and a sterling hayden who is back on track as a hard cop.
