My problem with this film was that I already knew the Polish bride. Well, and I don't really understand why it has to be repeated in Australian, in this case an Afghan bride. And then even a Monique Hendrickx.

Just like the Polish bride, this is not a bad film, but yes, I think one film is more than enough.

Furthermore, I thought that in my opinion the woman in this film did not really behave credibly as an Afghan woman when it comes to love and entering into a relationship. With a Polish woman it was a lot more believable. Catholics are different from Muslims in that respect.

Furthermore, she started as a psychiatric patient, but she recovered very quickly during the film.

It seemed to be heading towards a predictable story - which it ultimately is - until the film suddenly takes a more violent flight towards the end and, partly due to the somewhat confused events, finds no added value in this.

The final phase is played quickly. Some more explanation would have been welcome.

Monic Hendrickx repeats himself in this remake of The Polish Bride from 1998. The setting has been moved from Groningen to Australia and the bride does not come from Poland, but from Afghanistan. Doable, but not surprising for those who have seen the Dutch original.
