The Pilgrim plot
"The tale of an escaped prisoner who swiped a parson's clothes."
The Pilgrim (Charlie Chaplin) is an escaped inmate who steals the clothes of a vicar who is swimming at the time. He flees by train to a small Texas town, where he is mistaken for a cleric. There he meets Miss Brown (Edna Purviance) with whom he is allowed to stay.
