Lorenzo Rafael is not very well off, but lives with his fiancée María Candelaria, whom he will soon marry. But then María becomes seriously ill and Lorenzo has to break into a store to get her medicine. Don Damián is the owner of the shop that has Lorenzo put behind bars abruptly, partly because he wants María for himself. María then does whatever it takes to get Lorenzo out of prison...
