A mysterious murder in a castle points to the presence of vampires. Terrifying creatures are spotted in the area. Count Mora is one of them and is a striking appearance. He is played by Bela Lugosi who can easily reprise his role in Dracula. Vampire lady Luna is the other standout. She is played by Carrol Borland who impresses with her impression of a walking corpse.

Mark of the Vampire is a film with beautiful atmospheric images and creepy musical sounds. A fine classic horror film that suddenly takes a strange twist at the end that turns the story completely upside down. It seems that the actors were only aware of the twist shortly before filming the final scenes, which suddenly puts the character of their characters in a completely different light. Reportedly, the actors were not very pleased with the absurd finale. Although the ending really spoils the nature of the film, I was still able to laugh at it.

The Mark of the Vampire is an atmospheric mix of old-fashioned horror and crime. A moody entourage and fine camera work create a great creepy atmosphere. The strange ending takes all the tension and atmosphere out of the film, but because of that it also has a certain clumsy charm that arouses sympathy. However, it doesn't make the film any better.

A fun hour of entertainment. I loved the story, the cast, and especially the atmosphere. I found the ending rather tongue-in-cheek, but nothing more. Well, Bela Lugosi is the vampire, which is always a good thing
