Belle Toujours plot
38 years after 'Belle de Jour', Henri Husson meets Séverine again at a concert. Their shared secret past makes Séverine try to avoid him, but he follows her and manages to seduce her into a dinner party, where they can uncover the past once and for all.

My first acquaintance with the legendary Manoel de Oliveira is not exactly great. The man has a large oeuvre, but not every film is easy to find. In addition, many of his films are quite long. That is why this seemed like a safe choice to start with, also because I know Belle de Jour and I quite like the idea of Oliveira.
Unfortunately, it is not all as nice and good as hoped. Despite the short length, the build-up to the conversation between Husson and Séverine is too long. The moments leading up to it sometimes seem a bit loose and are not that interesting in terms of content. The last twenty minutes are still nice, but unfortunately the champagne is almost not worth drinking anymore.
I'll give Manoel de Oliveira another chance in the future, but for now he's not making an impression.
