joolstein is telling the truth, because Cat Sick Blues is sickeningly hilarious. What I would like to add to that is that the practical effects are phenomenal, as is the varied soundtrack (in addition to the retro electronic tunes that have become popular again in recent years, there is also some cool guitar stuff). The film does indeed feel completely unique and contrary. If I have to mention something negative, it is that the film derails slightly towards the end and retains less of the tight focus from before (although it can be explained plot-wise because part of it concerns a nightmare of Claire). We also see too much ugly overexposure at the end and somewhere a jerky zoom out (or tracking shot), while despite the low-budget digital character the cinematography is still quite stylish. Another slightly annoying point is the videotape that the police plays with the young Ted who really has hair that is too dark. Or was that supposed to be father Ted? He certainly looked like that.

Enough whining, this just needs to be a full-blown cult hit!

A very bizarre film about the effect that mourning a beloved pet can have on someone. The unresolved death of the beloved cat 'Patrick' causes rotten and pernicious twists in the mind of a grieving cat lover. His actions speak volumes accordingly.

The film is really crazy. The plot is crazy. The killer is crazy. Just his outfit. You rarely see such a twisted killer. Thanks to him, the film is quite violent. The killer likes physical excesses and certainly does not hold back. The consequences of his outbursts are seen in full glory in excellent sfx with lots of blood and gore. Not bad, considering the low budget category in which the film belongs.

Besides being explicit in the horror, the film is also clear in ridiculing video hype, publicity-hungry losers and other excesses of social media. The criticism is nicely woven into the story and has power because it is not statements in itself, but funny extensions of the main line. They are short-lived intermezzos with and by characters that pass by quickly and remain unnameable. Nice.

The music is powerfully present. Loud and screaming at the right moments. But also soft and pensive at the right moments. The music has an absolute added value in the film experience. The score underlines exciting moments, wails along in the misery and goes crazy during bizarre events. Strong indeed.

Yes, Cat Sick Blues is a bizarrely good movie.

Very bizarre movie with a lot of crazy absurd situations mixed with a nasty creep and bloody scenes.

I like the concept itself, of course it's also ridiculous and far-fetched, but somehow it's still interesting. But sometimes it's too much of a good thing: I think of his constant immense dildo that sways around during his kills, his unbelievable performances during certain kills (think of the very weak scene where 4 roommates are killed and all remain very passive), the exaggerated sound and towards the end the dream sequence. I didn't think it was as bad as alexspyforever but good is something else. But a woman with a dog mask who kills men in heat, yeah alexspyforever ... I can see that. 5/10
