An hour of introduction and atmosphere setting followed by an exciting last half hour. I think that pretty much sums up the movie.

The introduction of the characters takes place in a backward village with strange and xenophobic inhabitants. The introduction is mainly long and has many sluggish moments.

Yet they manage to create an ominous atmosphere in that hour through a number of scenes. Fortunately, the sluggishness is also interrupted a few times by a number of humorous scenes. Pretty okay. However, there are too few of them to completely eliminate the long-windedness.

The last half hour is a breakout from the rut. It suddenly becomes flashy and exciting.

The sfx leave something to be desired at that time, but that should not spoil the fun. Coupled with the surprise and suspense, the meager effects are manageable enough.

As far as I'm concerned, the film could have had a lot more of the last half hour.

More (unintentional) comedy than horror, but I must admit that I still had a great time with this. The found-footage aspect is actually completely unnecessary, since most of the film is just about a film crew recording everything.
If you as a viewer manage not to take this film too seriously, the scenes in the village and the inn with the villagers are still quite entertaining.
The ending is also far from terrifying due to the over-the-top CGI, but that does not alter the fact that I still found it entertaining to watch. Haha, why does turn that cop into an ax murderer towards the end? Or did those villagers think the whole party was witches. Anyway, it will cause an unexpected murder.
I can only agree with my predecessors: if you don't expect too much, he's still pretty funny.

uh.

Film that mainly relies on the third act, where we suddenly get to see a completely different film. Everything for that is a film that builds itself up, then builds up some more, and ends with just a little more build-up. It is therefore quite difficult to put yourself through the first hour.

The acting is also not brilliant and the main characters are among the most boring that have ever walked on screen. I don't often see people that I can't really recognize by sight after seeing this movie. Nothing is given to convince the viewer that these characters should survive, even for the people who are portrayed as nice individuals.

Furthermore, some sequences that can still be called okay, but actually they can be counted on a single hand in the first hour. It took me quite a bit of effort to stay focused. And that while the set-up with a television show can actually still be called fun. It is only very late in the film that the helm is completely changed.

Although the effects are ugly, I felt that a lot was done to suddenly present the film as explosively as possible. Several fun, creative images and a film that responds wonderfully to energy and enthusiasm. I would have liked to see more of this, but to get there you first have to struggle through a rather lengthy first half.
