Hope plot

Hannah Binnekamp is a passionate economist in his forties. When her father claims after yet another report about the economic crisis and grabbing bankers that it is a rotten world that will never change, she decides to go to New York and prove him wrong. She meets top banker Ben Elzen, who supports her and with whom she has a love affair. Until she overplays her hand and she and Ben end up facing each other.

Quite nice in itself, but also a bit of a silly film that plays it safe. Then they could have been much more cynical, for example by having that power woman finally just agree to everything knowing that she was acting against greater powers. Then you could have had a strong film (and more in line with the reality surrounding Mees). But okay, otherwise nicely acted (although I really get the creeps from a type of person like Hope), the romance is fine and the images from New York are nice. Only those parts with Pauw and that correspondent really couldn't be done, they looked so incredibly fake. 2.5*.

Encouraged by her father [Joost Prinsen], idealistic bank advisor Hanna Binnekamp [Monic Hendrickx] decides to continue her career in New York. There, she manages to get on well with influential Flemish top banker Ben Elzen [Gene Bervoets]. However, it doesn't stay on well and quickly goes off the rails. What starts as a nice satire on the ins and outs of the top of the banking world, changes halfway into a bizarre mix of romance, stalker thriller and legal drama. A strange failure, part of the Telefilm program.
