No, not seen on a big screen. I've been to a few DVD stores to see if they have it, without success. At cdjapan and yesasia they no longer have it and also no subs.

It's just a really good combination of all kinds of things. Actors, camera work, score, original and funny additions. Basically everything OH already says haha, not much else to add.

It's been too long since I saw this kind of Japanese film, hence the 5*. Exactly the kind of movie I love, the kind that could only come from Japan. So far I certainly don't regret it, but maybe I'll give it a 4.5* when I review it (because Asano doesn't have a supporting role ).

Very cool review.

I have to admit that I didn't remember much about the film, but in the end I somehow understood it. The mix of genre and arthouse certainly does not make it the most accessible film. There may be funny and colorful elements in it, but in terms of atmosphere it is still quite slow and subdued. Not the most eye-catching film.

But that doesn't really make it any less strong. The actors are really great, visually stylized and the choice of music also fits the film very well. But it's not really suitable for an evening after a long working week, the film is just a bit too slow for that.

Only recently saw another film by Watanabe, and that was also very worthwhile. Still an interesting director, whose link with Suzuki does not seem to be entirely without obligation. You could easily see Loved Gun as an extension of the Pistol Universe universe, but just a bit more serious.

4.0* and a extensive review
