Ants on a Shrimp follows chef René Redzepi of the Danish restaurant Noma, voted the best in the world 4 times, as he temporarily relocates his restaurant to the culinary mecca of the world, Japan. Known for his 'time and place on one plate' philosophy of cooking with only local ingredients, can Redzepi live up to his title of best restaurant in the world when confronted with ingredients unknown to him in a culture totally unknown to him? The film explores the creative thought process of one of the most influential people in the world, according to Time magazine, as he and his team develop a 14-course, Japanese-inspired menu.
