Yihe Yuan plot
Country girl Yu Hong leaves her native village in the late 1980s to study in Beijing. Wild and excited about the new freedoms that life in the big city brings, she plunges into a reckless affair with fellow student Zhou Wei. However, the social unrest around her continues to increase, which culminates in a major student revolt. When the Chinese government brutally crushes the uprising, Yu and Zhou lose each other in the chaos and panic. After the uprising, they each continue their own lives, but cannot forget each other.
