It was all just a bit too tame. Cast is good, technically it is also reasonably well put together, but the tension that you expect from a thriller remained away. Sophie is 'crazy' and that's it. Not much actually happens, apart from a few strange events. As a viewer you try to figure things out, but what you are ultimately left with is the confirmation or refutation of your predicted outcome. For about 90 minutes, you're looking at a woman that you're not 100% sure she's right, and that's just not interesting enough to impress.

Psychological thriller about a woman who seems paranoid and becomes more and more neurotic because she is not believed by her partner and environment and is labeled 'overstrained'. At first I got the feeling that it was a supernatural thriller because of the sudden sounds and movements the main character hears and sees in her house. The first part of the film therefore remained fairly exciting for me, but after that the whole fell into repetition; is Sophie right or wrong? When it finally becomes clear what the cause of everything is and the plot is unraveled, the story loses its credibility. I thought the ending of the movie was very rushed. The cast is also good and the camera work is clear, making the film easy to follow. However, much more could have been taken from this story. Unfortunately, I found the film disappointing. My rating: 2.5 stars.

With such a cast I had expected just a bit more than this somewhat lackluster thriller thing. And that silly plot twist doesn't do any good for me. I also thought the chemistry between Sam Neill and the ladies was a bit lacking - I think Neill is actually quite miscast.
