Narayama Bushiko plot
The story follows Orin, 69, who is still in excellent health, but custom in the isolated mountain village where she lives dictates that at the age of seventy, the elderly are taken by their children to the top of Mount Narayama to to die in the snow. Before that happens, Orin still has a few things to arrange: she is looking for a suitable wife for her eldest son, who is a widower. Meanwhile, she calmly prepares for her own journey to death.
