"Who will be crowned King of the Surf?"
Jody, Chase and Steamer are avid surfers who make a sort of pilgrimage from California to Hawaii. Every winter, many surfers from all over the world gather there to compete for the championship title. This time, however, the three young men are not only busy surfing the gigantic waves of the ocean, but also pay attention to three beautiful young ladies named Brie, Lily and Augie.

A mix of surf, action and romance in Hawaii. The story is not very interesting and rather meanders, with the highlight being the battle on the surfboard between rival youngsters. The one who can surf the highest wave last is the winner of the game. The actors and actresses look as you would expect: handsome muscular guys and pretty girls whose hair - in this phase of cinema - never gets wet. The best-known actor is Fabian, a teenage idol from back then who has since been forgotten. And then there is the presence of Shelley Fabares who is mainly known because she was allowed to participate in three Elvis movies. Switch off your brain and then it is quite an entertaining film.
This surf movie was a response by Columbia Pictures to the success of the low budget surf movies produced by AIP. The soundtrack is by Jan & Dean. Besides The Beach Boys and Dick Dale, they were also well-known makers of surf music at the time, mostly instrumental music that wanted to convey the feeling of excitement while surfing.
