Johnny Hart (Rod Cameron) is on the run from authorities after killing one of the men who murdered his partner. He passes through a small town and stops at the saloon of Lorena Dumont (Yvonne De Carlo). The two get along and Johnny stays with her, although he has no intention of getting married. But Lorena thinks otherwise. Bandit Blackie (Sheldon Leonard) is jealous and arranges for Johnny to be arrested shortly after the wedding and put behind bars for 6 years.
