Mediocre film in which the giant worms infest a new area. This second part lacks the freshness and especially the fun of Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward together (Christopher Gartin can't exactly compensate for the absence of Kevin Bacon). The budget is also significantly lower. The mutation of the monsters does provide some entertaining moments during the last part.

Step back.

Especially watched because it will soon disappear from Netflix, and I don't expect the series of Tremors to come on TV anytime soon. Despite my reasonable expectations, I was surprised to see that it doesn't even come close in terms of fun.

The pace is a lot more boring especially. Despite the fact that the film is sometimes quite clumsy and has some funny moments, the clumsy fun of part 1 is nowhere to be seen and the tension has actually been completely removed from it.

Especially since blowing up worms seems to be much easier now, and with part 1 they were a bit more unpredictable and scarier. If they are then replaced by a kind of group of Rabbits, the film actually withdraws completely.

Also, the movie sometimes starts to use CGI, and then it pretty much falls apart. There is less of a really dirty atmosphere. Also, part suddenly takes place in a grassland, instead of the desert, and then you get almost completely different Tremors than part 1.

Although it still has quite reasonable moments, this part is more boring and generally less so. Too bad, because part 1 was quite a positive surprise at the time.

Agree with everything Shadowed writes above. Without Kevin Bacon the fun is gone, Chris Gartin is still unfunny with his stupid hat. There is no chemistry between him and Fred Ward. They try to reference the duo Bacon-Ward by repeating the rock/paper/scissors game, but without success. An important element of the success of the first Tremor film is the choice of characters, they are all believable and equally well acted.

The setting is also less fun this time, the sandy desert with surrounding mountain range from the first film was just better. It's suddenly very easy to blow up the sandworms with dynamite, removing the tension from the first film. The worms have now also got feet and are happily walking around, further removing the threat of monsters lurking underground. This is no longer a horror, but a bland comedy. The CGI monsters look very ugly at times.

Michael Gross, the dad from 'Family Ties', does participate again and as a gun enthusiast Burt Gummer he is one of the nicest characters from the first film. That head of a sandworm hanging on his wall as a trophy!
