Paul is a war orphan who suffers from nightmares about bombing and killing. To help him overcome his fears, he is placed under the care of Father Matthew, who heads a mission in a remote part of California. Then Rin Tin Tin, a German Shepherd who has just escaped his cruel master, approaches the mission. The dog and the boy immediately bond, but Rin Tin Tin's boss is looking for him.
