Nice sci fi action movie with a nice story. Vin Diesel played the part of Riddick well again. but I didn't like Karl Urban very much. but this movie is worth watching if you like sci fi action movies. I give this movie a 3.0

The helm has turned.

Completely different sequel to a film that still had its own face at the time. Pitch Black, despite the fact that it looked fairly broken, sometimes managed to be unpredictable and had a little more threat and pace than this film, which has become much more like a normal Hollywood movie in almost every way.

Indeed, the CGI is not always the best. It does look a lot better than in part 1, but there it was still justified by the dark environment. That's not the point here, where almost all the action seems to take place in bright daylight. That makes little difference to the experience, but as a result, wooden, fortunately detailed CGI regularly comes to the fore.

Diesel remains a somewhat dubious actor. On the one hand, he is in his element here and seems to enjoy his role. Moreover, this film gives a little more depth to his character, which makes it a little better off the ground. But on the other hand, it has now become a basic hero that doesn't stand out much anymore between the other mountain Marvel and DC heroes.

Action is bombastic, but less daring than part 1. Probably to save money. Since this also clearly has a higher budget than the persecutor, who was 16+. But it doesn't make this Riddick special anymore as a movie.

The action doesn't often convince, the camera work is too classic and the CGI is regularly broken. Fortunately, the film often manages to captivate and has enough pace. The course of the film sometimes hits like a pig, but some ideas are cool. Especially the lens heads are really funny.

It's a shame that this film has less of its own face than the previous part. Less suspense, more action, more Hollywood. A bit of a shame, but it's still fun.

Entertaining film that can't stand in the shadow of Pitch Black, nevertheless has a few very nice things and succeeds in mindless entertainment.

After the success of Pitch Black, Twohy was apparently allowed to go all in on this film. Budget, cast, Diesel himself and probably a fortune in tricks and CGI. It can't be... yet the introduction with Lord Marshall and his rule is a terrible obligatory story in which Riddickn barely appears at first and is later woven in as a passer-by, with a great influence later on. The intrigue and circumstances between Marshall, Veelo, Dame Veelo, and Aereon are so cliché that it's actually cringe-inducing and actually reason to turn off the TV. Only with Riddick more in the picture and on transport to Crematorium, Jack does not come across it entirely by accident, and tries to escape, the film comes to its simple core that best fits around a film with Riddick. The subsequent infiltration and action also fits much better than the mediocre attempt at the beginning to bring depth and dialogue to the story.

The Chronicles of Riddick then needs a moment for me to get going, culminating in the inclusion at Crematorium and the reunion with Jack, delicious lady that Alexa Davalos is, and the spectacle that follows. Diesel is mainly in the tank, and already surviving, again at its best assisted by a fine Davalos. The film also stands out as a good brainless entertainment.
