The Miracle of the Bells plot
Hollywood press officer William "Bill" Dunnigan (Fred MacMurray) brings the dead body of an actress to her hometown. She died after 1 movie and he grants her last wish. In order to put pressure on the studio to release the film, he wants extra public attention. He asks the local churches to ring their bells for 3 days.
