Angels over Broadway plot
"A Romance Born Between Dusk and Dawn"
Charles Engle (John Qualen) is caught cheating. At his wits' end, he writes a suicide note and begins to wander through the city. Bill O'Brien (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) is a petty criminal who thinks Engle is rich. He enlists Nina Barone (Rita Hayworth) to trick Engle into playing cards. Nina agrees, but is more interested in O'Brien himself than in his dirty games. Meanwhile, a drunk fellow card player finds Engle's suicide note and devises a plan of his own to save Engle's life.
