Tess of the Storm Country plot

Elias Graves builds his house on top of a hill, where there is a village at the bottom of the hill. Some of the men of the village have a crush on Tess, but she falls for Graves' son. The villagers then falsely accuse Tess's father of murder and Tess finds himself torn between them.

Mary Pickford plays the daughter of a squatter wrongly suspected of murder. She falls in love with the son of the landowner, who wants the squatters evicted. The first half is very captivating, but the denouement is predictable. The murderer is a stereotypical villain, but the landowner undergoes a transformation.
Pickford evokes sorrow, hope, and emotion without words. The landowner's daughter has the same hairstyle with false curls. The night scenes have a blue filter; the interior scenes are in sepia. The snowstorm is beautifully done, undoubtedly with artificial snow. The message is hopeful with a sentimental edge.
