The Man with the Screaming Brain plot

"He's losing their minds"

The Man with the Screaming Brain tells the story of greed, betrayal and revenge in a big, evil city. Part of William Cole's (Bruce Campbell) brain is replaced by that of a Latino street brat. The two couldn't be more different from each other. Nevertheless, they have one thing in common: both were murdered by the same woman. When they are revived by an insane professor (Stacey Keach), they decide to take revenge together (locked up in Cole's body).

Reasonably amusing nonsense film that takes a while to get going, but really lets loose in the second half. Sometimes great finds, sometimes terribly lame, but always great cult. Campbell knows what his fans want, and serves it with love.

3*.

Reasonably entertaining nonsense and nonsense. Bruce Campbell does a decent job and manages to provide some funny moments in his role as William Cole (especially the scene on the pink moped). And Ted Raimi and Stacy Keach also play an amusing supporting role, so there is certainly a lot to laugh about in this film.

Still, Man with the Screaming Brain is not the hilarious project that I secretly expected. For example, the script had far too many lame and not-funny moments, certain jokes just don't work. The film never becomes hilarious. In addition, Campbell is not nearly as funny as in Evil Dead 2 or more recently Bubba Ho-Tep. Too bad, I expected a bit more.

3 stars.

I saw it on DVD, which was in the box set "The Bruce Campbell Collection", UK Import.

Jeeeezes, that was a movie of the eighth buttonhole.

The first hour is really not worth watching, amateurism at its best!

However, from the moment William wakes up with 2 different brain hemispheres, things get fun.

The left and right sides of his body are controlled separately, William controls the right side, Pavel the left side.

This has hilarious consequences, a bit like that scene from "Evil Dead II (1987)" where Ash's hand turns on him and tries to kill him.

Luckily I kept watching until this good part, because I felt like turning it off much sooner.

This is yet another proof that you can only say something about a film if you've watched it all the way through.

4/10.

Too bad about that first bad hour because after that there is another half hour of amusing slapstick in the well-known "Bruce Campbell" style.
