"The time had come for some 'hands on' experience."
Four boys decide to do something useful during their vacation. They go in search of the completely new experience for them called sex. Before that, they go to the beach and watch the beautiful girls through a telescope. And of course hoping for more...

The predecessor to American Pie and the successor to Porky's, little expected but extremely entertaining due to its short playing time!
What you see is what you get is clearly a slogan that is appropriate for this kind of film, many beautiful women and acting performances that are not worthy of an Oscar nomination, but that are not so bad that it irritates the viewer.
Nice film for people who like this style, I found this film most comparable to Screwballs which is clearly also recommended. 
Nice late night movie!

Due to the huge success of films like Porky's, teen sex comedies were a rewarding subject for many films in the 1980s. Hot Moves is probably one of the lesser films of this genre.
The film looks very cheap and is full of caricatures. The women do look nice, and the nice 80s music also makes up for a lot. The film mostly resembles one big commercial for a vacation to Venice Beach, California. Many scenes also seem to be copied from various documentaries around this famous beach, as the use of color often changes in the film.
The four protagonists fail to convince and the acting is often terrible. Actor Michael Zorek reprises his role from Private School, but at 25 he is still a bit too old to pass for a 16-year-old.
Not a very good film from director Jim Sotos, who mainly earned his living as a director of commercials and music videos.

80's teenage hormones (with actors in their twenties). The story is very thin but enough for an hour and a half of fun and shapely bodies. I have to say it was a pleasure to watch also thanks to the break dance and skate scenes set to a flamboyant 80's soundtrack. Things that in themselves have nothing to do with the story and mask how thin it all is. Michael Zorek is fun to watch and these kinds of films go well for him. Jill Schoelen is nowadays somewhat seen as a horror icon of the 80s, but she has also done these kinds of films.
Wonderful is the moment with the Vangelis parody on the naked beach. The jokes with the trans woman would certainly no longer be acceptable today.
Good genre film.
