Arianna plot
"I was born twice, actually three times."
Arianna is 19 and hasn't had her first period yet. Although her breasts are getting bigger, causing discomfort, hormone therapy doesn't seem to help. In the summer, her parents take her to the holiday home on Lake Bolsena. During the stay, old memories surface and the puzzle pieces slowly fall into place. When her parents tell them to return to the city, Arianna wants to stay behind to study. Her father accepts this, but her mother feels uncomfortable. As the first afternoons pass slowly and in silence, Arianna examines her past and her body. Meeting her young cousin Celeste, whose figure is clearly different from hers and who has already lost her virginity, forces Arianna to discover the true nature of her sexuality.

Reasonable film about a teenage girl undergoing hormone treatment who has problems discovering her sexuality. Sometimes a bit boring, and it takes a little too long before it manages to captivate. But the main character eventually comes out well, thanks in part to a beautiful intimate role by Ondina Quadri.

A solid film about a young woman who struggles with her identity and sexuality. But I'm a bit confused because I gather from the movie that she didn't even know about the whole gender situation when she was a baby/toddler. Or am I seeing this completely wrong? The fact that she is going on her own to investigate her current physical and also mental problems shows that she needs help. Not that her parents aren't loving, but more forced decisions and dark secrets have been forged in loving situations.
Very fine indeed, acted by Ondina Quadri with her penetrating gaze. Her story in the self-help group was also touching when she let her emotions run wild. The perfect playing time is also ideal and did not need to be milked out further. A film that also rightly draws attention to intersexuality. Not all that simple though. Physiologically nor mentally ...
