Quill plot
"A dog's life is never as easy as it looks."
Quill, a labrador puppy, is sent to Isamu and Mitsuko Nii, who volunteer to train guide dogs for the blind. When he is older, he is sent to a guide dog school, under the watchful eye of trainer Taware. Although Quill is a little slower than the others, he seems to have a remarkable feeling and understanding of his trainers. Taware believes Quill is ideal for Mr. Watanabe, a lonely middle-aged man, but he doesn't want to be helped by a dog. Slowly but surely Watanabe learns to pick up life again and to appreciate the people around him and his dog.
