“Chad, he's your brother. Look at him! For Christ's sake, look at him! Just take a look at him! He's your twin brother!”

If even the action in a Jean Claude Van Damme movie looks mediocre, there's very little left to enjoy. The acting is lousy, the fight scenes are boringly filmed and we don't need to talk about the story at all. Van Damme's double role mainly makes you laugh, which may well have been the intention.

One of the few JcvD movies from the 80s / 90s that I had never seen, I used to be a fan. And secretly they are still guilty pleasures. This film fits in well with that.

This must be the 5th time he plays a double role, although I think this is the first time. Together with taking revenge for his murdered brother, this is just about the common thread in his oeuvre.

Explosions, poorly choreographed fight scenes, shoot outs, a nice Alonna Shaw and Bolo Yeung remains a cool bad guy. I had a great time, although Van Damme has delivered at least 10 better films.

Double Impact used to be a favorite movie for me because JCVD was/is one of my action heroes. Now that I look back at the film many years later, this one from JCVD is also somewhat disappointing. JCVD really should be able to practice more martial arts and not be used for the acting, which should be given shape in particular verbally. If you bet on that, it immediately leans towards B-movie material and this is actually one.
