Sparrowhawk 27 on 'Guernsey'

I was intrigued watching this movie. He shows how people can lead a boring and monotonous life. How our conversations don't amount to much. But above all, how our human relationships (family, work, environment, relationship) are constantly at stake.

Had no problem with the slow rhythm, the few words, but with the editing.

Beautiful 'appropriate' song by Camille at the end credits!!

Admire the 'image cutout' (video art!). ***

This Dutch production had been on the list for a long time, just finally watched it and I agree with the optimists who describe Leopold as Holland's new hope.
As is so often the case with films with little dialogue, it's just a matter of income; after all, most of the films are overloaded with dialogues that are not always functional. Leopold filters very much and mainly lets the images speak, with many different distances and a lot of stationary camera work. This is what makes the film especially unique and what also intensely conveys Kraakman's introverted role.
The film ripples along quite calmly, but with only functional images and dialogues. Towards the end comes the almost redeeming sorrow, with the accompanying necessary talk. Life is not as it was conceived by Anna and that realization (which had long permeated) is expressed anyway.
A film about pent-up grief in which the viewer is also held up to a mirror and implicitly asked questions about the latter's world. You take on the role of Kraakman, as it were, and adopt the same voyeuristic attitude yourself. 4*

A strange film about an introverted woman, who dives deeper into herself after the suicide of a colleague. For reasons that are unclear, she then begins to view the people around her with suspicion. A plotless film, which creeps painfully slowly to its end without anything noteworthy happening.
