Mattie Rigsbee, a good-humoured elderly woman, loves to spoil people who cross her path with a homemade cake or meal. Wesley Benfield, a seventeen-year-old boy who is in juvenile detention, is also visited by Mattie and provided with goodies. One day he suddenly shows up at her door with the announcement that he has a few days off. In reality, he has escaped and hopes to steal money from Mattie and run away. However, he can't resist Mattie's tasty food and a hot bath. Mattie blooms all the way, but then she discovers that money is disappearing...
