Napola - Elite für den Führer plot

"Men make history. We make the men."

The National Political Academies (NaPolA for short) were the primary schools in Nazi Germany where the future elite was educated. Only the very best were admitted, and once inside, there was no difference in rank or status: everyone was given equal opportunities and was destined to become governor of Washington, Paris, Moscow or any city that would be invaded in the Millennium. So was the young Friedrich, a laborer's son who is noticed by the boxing coach of one of those schools as a great boxing talent, who could possibly lead the school to victory in the annual boxing competition between the schools. He passes the entrance test and forges his father's signature (who must have nothing to do with the Nazi practices) to enter the school.

Hele sterke ontroerende film met een goed en interessant verhaal. Geloof niet dat ik zoiets eerder in een film heb gezien. Goed in elkaar gezet en prima geacteerd. 4 sterern

Very strong moving film with a good and interesting story.

Don't believe I've seen anything like this in a movie before.

Well put together and well acted.

Nazi Academy Voortreffelijk geacteerd drama over een jongen met bokstalent, die een toegangsticket krijgt tot een Nazi-eliteschool. Daar leert men de jeugd vooral om zich te conformeren naar het Dritte Reich waardenscala waarbij alle vorm van menselijkheid verdrongen wordt. Misschien niet de mokerslag die ik had verwacht, maar er blijven enkele sterke scènes sluimeren zoals die op het bevroren meer . Het einde is wrang maar de jongen is uiteindelijk beter af op die manier .

Excellently acted drama about a boy with boxing talent, who gets an entrance ticket to a Nazi elite school. There, the youth are mainly taught to conform to the Dritte Reich value scale, whereby all form of humanity is repressed. Maybe not the sledgehammer I expected, but some strong scenes linger like the one on the frozen lake . The ending is bitter but the boy is better off that way in the end .
