Technik des Glücks plot
Technik des Glücks shows a man from Manchester who goes to the industrial area in the former East Germany. The reason for his trip is personal: his grandfather was also there during the war. The journey takes him to the largest coal-fired power station ever built. Like many other industrial complexes, the power station is now an abandoned place, overtaken by the Progress. The Englishman will find private films and home videos and other relics of the people who used to turn coal into electricity in the power station. This documentary is about utopias. Industrial utopias about prosperity and prosperity, socialist utopias about solidarity and togetherness and personal utopias about family, home and happiness. But it is also a film about the loss of utopias.
