South of St. Louis plot
"Warner Bros.' Thundering New Triumph!"
Towards the end of the American Civil War, Kip Davis, Charlie Burns and Lee Prince, owners of the Three Bell Ranch in Texas, are driven from their territory by rebels led by Luke Cottrell. The trio flees further south and they try to build a new life there. Davis and Burns find work in the arms trade, and Prince joins the Confederate army. Davis and Burns argue over the attractive and rebellious saloon singer Rouge de Lisle, who is in love with Davis. Davis eventually marries law-abiding Deborah Miller. Burns wants to reclaim his ranch from Luke Cottrell with the money earned from the arms trade, but he will also have to take on former co-owner Prince, because the Confederate military controls the area where the Three Bell Ranch is located.
