"Don't be upset"

Kathy is fourteen and lives with her mother and brother Danilo in a small Chilean coastal town. Her father has been convicted of theft and is in prison. Everyday life is not easy for Kathy. At school she meets Chemo, a beautiful and sensitive boy, with whom she develops an intense friendship. Meanwhile, the family falls apart, and suddenly Kathy is all alone. As she grows into adulthood, she becomes acquainted with the strict rules of a reform school for girls; she discovers her brother's secrets; she is having her first love and her first sexual experience; she feels how bittersweet freedom tastes.
