Just saw it on BBC. Not really great at all but still atmospheric enough not to zap channels. 2*

From the director of the masterpiece Inseminoid, you know what time it is. While that film was a kind of Alien rip-off, his Terror from 1978 is often described as the British Suspiria. And it is quite clear that Mr. Warren is copying the Italian horror hit Suspiria, so in Terror we see a whole lot of kills with attempts to make the design look like that film by Argento from a year earlier. Here and there some green and red colors, women who are impaled against walls covered in blood and a lot of 'things' that just happen. Don't expect a clear script or a well-running story and interesting characters are also absent. And of course the film does not come close to a Suspiria. But the biggest problem is that Warren, just like Inseminoid, can make a film of barely an hour and a half feel like more than two hours. The pacing is mediocre, some scenes feel like they never end. A handful of moments - including that cop - are so stupid that they become fun. Luckily, because you really need those few stupid moments to keep your attention.

1.5 stars.

I largely agree with the comments here, although I am a little more lenient in my assessment.

Thought the witch hunt was a strong opening scene. Gloomy, nice soundtrack and a portion of 70's gore. The murders follow each other after the opening scene in a fairly quick tempo, although not everything is executed equally successfully. Little story and very cardboard characters ensure that it all doesn't interest you very much.

Every now and then there is a nice kill and some gore, or a nice supernatural find (the car in the tree). But sometimes scenes are just too long (the police officer has been mentioned above, but I found the dancing naked woman even worse).

All in all, quite okay 70's sleaze to have seen once.
