"The heart is a lonely hunter."
When she learns of her mother's death, lonely teenager Pursy Will (Scarlett Johansson) heads to New Orleans to reclaim her childhood home. She expects an abandoned house, but it turns out to be inhabited by two of her mother's friends: Bobby Long (John Travolta), a former literature teacher, and the younger Lawson Pines. These two broken men have lived in the dilapidated house for years, and all that keeps them going is Lawson's ambition to write a biography of Bobby Long. Since no one plans to leave, Pursy, Bobby and Lawson have to live together for the time being. Buried under personal secrets, their lives turn out to be intricately linked.

Good film in which a teenage girl moves into her late mother's house, where two of her mother's friends now live. A nice story with three well developed main characters. A nice quiet pace and the whole atmosphere of New Orleans comes across well. Scarlett Johansson portrays her role well and also has an excellent screen pressence.

Nice. A Love Song for Bobby Long radiates melancholy, and the summer in New Orleans makes for a languid and very pleasant movie experience. There's a lot of drama under the surface, but the tone remains lighthearted for the most part. Travolta, Johansson and Macht are fantastic, and their bickering and bickering remains a blast to watch throughout the entire game.
A lot of venom and drama, but also a remarkable amount of humor arises from their quarrels. The balance is perfect. The scene between Johansson and Macht in front of the fireplace is a highlight, but many small details and comments also stay with you. These three characters have all had some dents and scratches in their lives, but you can see them slowly recovering. With the sun-drenched New Orleans, which is almost a character in itself.
