Snake Island plot

"Fear strikes without warning."

Captain Jake Malloy is on his way to their safari camp with six passengers. First, however, they stop at Snake Island, where writer Malcolm Page and Eddie Trent, owner of a house on the island, have to be dropped off. Oddly enough, Eddie's partners aren't waiting for him on arrival. Then a deadly cobra falls into the boat. In the fight to kill the snake, the fuel tank runs out and all passengers have to spend the night on the island. The evening starts with a party, but slowly deadly snakes are appearing everywhere: cobras, puff adders, black mambas, green mambas. The guests try to escape from Snake Island, where humans are the endangered species...

Director Wayne Crawfords himself plays Captain Jake, who along with his passengers pass by Snake Island and have to make a short stop there. Unfortunately, due to unforeseeable circumstances, they also have to stay there for a night. Snake Island apparently really exists, but there are of course also many other animals on the island, which makes for some beautiful images. There were plenty of snakes to portray, but it often felt a bit fake. Sometimes you had the impression that certain scenes were edited afterwards. The story also drags on a bit with lengthy dialogues and many images of snakes that struck just too late or not at all. It only gets going when the guests feel like they are at a resort and indulge in booze and some are open to a sensual dance. A little nudity is then in order. But it never becomes exciting. The guests are driven apart by the party, which suits the snakes perfectly. The climax seems a bit ridiculous. It's not really bad, but the film does start very slowly with numerous snakes that don't actually strike in the first part, but afterwards there are so many that you wonder where they were in the first part. 4/10
