The young journalist Sebastian Zöllner is writing an article about the famous artist Manuel Kaminski. Zöllner hopes Kaminski dies soon so that he can cash in on his article. He persuades the old artist to join him in looking for his old flame Therese (Geraldine Chaplin), who lives on the North Sea.
