An impressive film that leaves a double feeling. A still topical film about the refugee problem, although this film is of course a bit outdated. It concerns a group of Jewish refugees, including two children, an old man and a deserter. They have managed to escape to Switzerland by train and are given shelter in a local inn by initially somewhat stiff people, but they quickly recover. But then the authorities take action...

It could just be in the Netherlands. Before and during the Second World War, Switzerland pursued a rather harsh refugee policy. But the Netherlands did not fare much better before the occupation. And not yet, in view of the government's plea for shelters, the images from Ter Apel, and negative reactions from various small villages. You will be at the mercy of people in an unknown country with only a few meager possessions. That makes this film understandable.
