"He had found love - lost it - and now had found it again!"
In the tumult of the festivities surrounding the end of the Great War, a major manages to escape from the asylum, where he is admitted with amnesia without anyone knowing who he is and who is simply called Smith. A variety artist, Paula, takes care of him. They fall in love, get married and have a child. After a trip to Liverpool, Smith has an accident. After the accident, he forgets that he has a happy married life with Paula.
