Eighty-year-old Martha is a lively woman who resists the restrictions that society usually imposes on an elderly person. In her nurse Anna, Martha finds an ally who understands her. However, when her neighbor dies, she loses her energy and is left exhausted and depressed. Her son decides to take her to a retirement home, but Martha thinks otherwise.
