"Where does a woman's sympathy leave off -- and her indiscretion begin?"
Tom Robinsin Lee is in a boarding school and is very bullied there. His father does not understand that. A teacher's wife is the only one who cares about him. She and Tom grow closer and closer. Then Tom wants to prove his manhood to his fellow students. He contacts the frivolous waitress Ellie and that has fatal consequences.
