Simplicity.

I don't think you can make a movie much simpler than this. That is also its strength in a way because not too much time is wasted on peripheral stuff. A simple love story with a predictable ending and some musical bits in between.

Monroe can only do one trick and the Burlesque atmosphere is also sometimes better portrayed in a movie (Kelly has some nicer ones than this), but because this movie doesn't pretend much, it doesn't bother that much.

There isn't really much memorable to see, unless you already knew that this was Monroe's first role. It was not annoying, but very ordinary, very predictable and not very memorable.

1.0*

Saw this movie for the first time. Marilyn Monroe's first starring role, before the corrections to her nose and chin. The story isn't much, but it's very entertaining. Marilyn does a nice job in terms of singing/dancing. Though I like her more Norma Jean here. Nice to see her like this before she became Marilyn Monroe.
