The Magnetic Monster plot

"Terror swoops through the heart of a city in the dead of night!"

Scientist Stewart and his partner Dan Forbes accidentally end up in a shop where a strong magnet has magnetized all metal objects. Further research shows that the extreme magnetism is the result of the discovery of the new radioactive substance serranium. If they don't destroy the matter quickly, the gravitational pull could become so strong that even the Earth is pulled out of orbit.

Monsterless.

How one fills 76 minutes with atmosphere, but without tension. Despite the fact that this film is from the 1950s and has the word 'monster' in the title, it is anything but a monster movie. The bizarre story about an ever-growing magnet inspires little fear, but nevertheless manages to entertain. Not thanks to the mediocre acting performances, because Carlson makes up for a lot, but thanks to the strange mix of amateurish SF and sweet drama. And a monster would have been in order there.

2 Magnets.

We can all make fun of it here: "The monster movie without a monster!!" But to be honest, I've been sweating quite a bit here. Professor has been messing around with elements and particles and voilà a new element. Magnetic, radioactive and critical every eleven hours. Can then be kept under control by irradiating it with a gigantic amount of electricity, but when it is under control then this demon core is immediately twice as large. And that goes on and on and then you also need more and more volts and you guessed it will finally become so big that the whole earth will shoot out of its orbit. I am sensitive to these kinds of invisible monsters and chemistry/physics experiments that got out of hand. Furthermore, I think mainly suitable for beta nerds, but I'm going to dream of these kinds of films. Very pleasant surprise this.
