Atmospheric slow burner. I found it surprising... not in terms of content, but certainly in form. Great use of (fast, slightly experimental) crosscutting. This starts with the opening scene and that technique is used very strongly, especially during the band's performance. That certainly distinguishes it from many of its peers. I had never seen a killer in fencing gear before. With a great Psycho scene towards the end.

By the way, an excellent transfer of Vinegar Syndrome on Blu-ray.

Not a very good Troma this slasher. In itself a fairly standard film that unfortunately turns out less well due to the execution. The build-up is quite slow, the film has mediocre kills and little tension. The scene in which the band finally made music lasted far too long with the murder with the screen outfit in between. The event where the coach suspected of the murders was shot by the police during the struggle with the real murderer made almost no sense and caused a major illogic. Of course it's just a movie, but it was strange. The entire denouement was too simple and the confrontation at the end can also be described that way.

And there's the average 80s slasher. Kills are quite nice, but the story surrounding them isn't much. Who is the killer? That's not enough plot for over an hour and a half. B-movie to ride on the success of all those other high school horror films. For the inveterate enthusiasts: it is watchable, but don't expect too much from it.
