The Born Losers plot

"An innocent girl is first prize in the dirtiest game ever played!"

The Born Losers tells the story of Billy Jack (Tom Laughlin), a (half-blood) ex-Green Beret and Vietnam veteran who sees it as his job to rescue a girl from a biker gang. Much to his chagrin, he encounters just as much trouble with the racist police as the biker gang, and soon finds himself embroiled in a violent all-party battle.

Not too good. This first in the Billy Jack series, contains too much air with many nonsensical scenes that hold up the story. Making a better and tighter edit is a must here. With a playing time of almost two hours, the whole thing really feels too slow to be interesting.

The promotion of Billy Jack as a mythical character also fails from scene 1. Still nice because of that action hero archetype that would later become commonplace with Bronson and colleagues. Laughlin got there early. There were three more sequels, the second of which must be the best. I wonder if this will get better...

There is no momentum in this film in which the hero does not exactly make smart choices, but does have some charisma.

The logic is further lacking.
