Stacking stitches.

Director John Dahl, in his directorial debut, already demonstrates his fondness for plot twists, but while he would later improve on them, this one still suffers from occasional setbacks. The twists also pile up too much towards the end. Still, Kill Me Again isn't a bad film, and the Kilmer couple provide an entertaining pastime.

Reasonable.

Good neo-noir from Dahl. It's a shame this director isn't active anymore. The film is full of twists and is somewhat predictable here and there, but I still think it's beautifully put together. Besides the twists, there's also a lot of Americana: Road 66 scenes, old Chryslers, casinos, greed, and murder. I always get excited about these kinds of films. Unfortunately, Kilmer's acting is a bit dull here. Fortunately, that's not a problem, because much of it relies on Dahl's directing talent and inspiration, which revives the old noir classics.

A decent interlude with the usual simple noir ingredients: stolen money from criminals, money-switching schemes, a femme fatale who wants it for herself, and the requisite deceit. Madsen is always in his element as a psycho; has he ever played anything else? Kilmer is a bit flat. You see flashbacks to the detective's traumatic past, but they're not used much. Whalley's femme fatale is adequate.

The sound was out of place: both the soundtrack and the old-fashioned gunshot sounds, which were common in the 70s but now seem very fake.
