Ässhäk - Geschichten aus der Sahara plot
Documentary about the environment of the Tuaregs. These nomadic people have managed to survive in the Sahara desert, in an area known for extremes of heat and cold, with its mystical beauty of starry skies over the dim light of a campfire. The Tuaregs cultivate a love of music, poetry and beauty. In her documentary, Koch features, among others, the storyteller Ibrahim Tshibrit, who keeps the oral traditions of his tribe alive. And the marabut, who is revered as a saint, keeper of an ancient mosque and traditions that predate Islam. He shows how he prepares a medicinal drink on the basis of Koran texts. By playing the imzad (one-stringed violin), the Tuareg women recall the values of their people, in which 'ässhäk', the respect for others, comes first.
