Die Macht der Bilder: Leni Riefenstahl plot

Leni Riefenstahl: dancer, actress, director and photographer. But above all a controversial person whose name is mentioned in the same breath as Hitler, Goebbels and The Third Reich. Ray Müller made a portrait about this now 90-year-old diva and persona non grata and in particular about her curious career. In 1932, Leni Riefenstahl took an important place in the male-dominated film world as a director.

A much more informative and balanced overview of the life of the controversial filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl than the film 'Riefenstahl' released this year, which is actually more of a rather superfluous indictment of her work and her political views during the Nazi period. This film also does not shy away from critical questions, but does respect Riefenstahl and pays a lot of attention to the creation of Olympia (1938) in particular and her later underwater photography and films. But at over three hours it is also quite a long watch. I watched it in episodes and found it interesting enough to watch. An image of a remarkable woman, who at the age of ninety started diving training again and was just as determined a director underwater as she had been her entire life.
