A Town like Alice plot
"A tale of survival."
During World War II, the Japanese rapidly conquered British territory in Asia. The men are sent to prison camps, but a large group of women and children are sent on foot on a long, brutal journey across Malaysia. Some die, others are tortured. One of the women befriends an Australian man, who is also a prisoner of war, who tells her about an idyllic place in Australia.
