Chris Lloyd is an escaped killer who roams the countryside. An orphaned boy, also on the run, crosses his path, continues to chase him and eventually travels with him.

In the beginning this story seems a bit unusual, which grows into a warm buddy movie.
Of course, such a film of people on the run has the necessary well-known ingredients, "from being recognized" to "escaping in the nick of time"
The ending provides a humanly positive note in this black-and-white film that is clearly British-made. Director Charles Crichton made several decent films in that period, but his greatest success came more than 30 years later with "A Fish called Wanda".
In "Hunted" you can see a young, good Dirk Bogarde and a sharp boss, Jon Whiteley, liked as a young star but, as very often, did not develop a later career.
